Get ready to explore the wild world of music! Our Zoo Train Kindermusik Camp will take your child on a thrilling musical safari. Through interactive instrument play, storytelling, and creative movement, your camper will develop rhythm, motor coordination, and a lifelong love for music—all while having a ROARING good time!

Creatures In My Backyard

Watch your little one’s eyes light up as we explore the magic of nature through music in our Creatures In My Backyard Kindermusik Camp! Designed for babies and toddlers, this gentle, joyful camp introduces backyard sights and sounds through sensory instrument play, nursery rhymes, storytelling, and sweet lap-bounces that support rhythm, language development, and coordination in a fun, low-pressure setting.

Our Programs

  • Learn foundational technique, rhythm, and music theory through fun, structured lessons. Students build confidence as they explore classical pieces, modern songs, and improvisation.

  • Focused on breath support, pitch, tone, and confidence, voice lessons help students develop healthy singing habits while exploring songs, rhythm, and musical expression.

  • Beginner-friendly instruction covering chords, strumming patterns, picking, and popular songs. Students can explore acoustic or electric guitar depending on their interest.

  • A perfect starter instrument for younger learners or beginners. Lessons teach chords, strumming patterns, and fun songs that build quick confidence.

  • Students build tone, breath control, rhythm, and reading skills while learning melodies, scales, and expressive playing across a variety of styles.

  • Focused on tone, breath support, finger placement, and music reading, clarinet lessons help students develop confidence, control, and a strong musical foundation.

  • Students learn breath control, posture, tone, and note reading while building coordination and expression through fun, age-appropriate music.

  • Students develop strong ear training, posture, bow control, and tone quality. Lessons are paced to each learner’s skill level, introducing classical pieces and performance opportunities.

  • A warm and expressive string instrument, perfect for students who enjoy rich, mellow tones. Lessons focus on technique, reading music, and building confidence through practice.

  • Students learn proper form, bowing, and musical expression while exploring both classical repertoire and modern arrangements. Great for building strength, discipline, and creativity.

  • Focused on rhythm, timing, and foundational grooves. Students learn how to support a band or ensemble, read tabs, and build confidence in their musical role.

Meet the Team

  • Jason Arce

    Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Guitar, Piano

    Grammy award-winning musician Jason Arce was raised in Virginia Beach. Upon graduating from Princess Anne High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Master's degree from New York University. 

    While living in New York City, Jason performed with major musicians such as Joe Jonas, Weezer, Adele, Joe Budden, Cory Henry, Blood Orange, and more! He is also a proud endorser of Cannonball Saxophones, Bettersax mouthpieces, BG France and Gonzalex reeds. Jason now resides in Virginia Beach and continues to perform and teach in the area.

  • Julie Albritton

    Kindermusik

    Julie has been teaching music to children since she had her first little sister but officially for over 30 years. Julie has a degree in Music Education (vocal & instrumental), holds her Orff certification, and is a licensed Kindermusik Educator.

    During the last 30+ years, she has taught public and private school music, directed children, youth, & adult church choirs and praise teams, taught private violin, viola, voice, and piano lessons, and taught Kindermusik classes.

    Julie loves to provide the experience of music to children, watch how they naturally respond to it, and go on the journey together!

    Julie is married to Jay, and together they have 6 kids and 4 (almost 5) grandkids (all of whom are in Kindermusik!!!)

  • Barbara Moss

    Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele, Music Theory

    Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from S.U.N.Y. Cortland, NY and a Master's degree from N.Y.I.T. She has played the piano and guitar since childhood, singing along the way, and has never stopped. Some of her performance highlights include traveling the country in a 50 piece choir, performing as a solo singer and pianist, as well as singing and playing guitar in a 4 piece band. 

    Barbara teaches students of all age groups and levels, covering a multitude of genres including classical, musical theatre, pop, rock, standards, and composition. From music foundations to advanced performance, Barbara passionately helps her students achieve their musical dreams with unlimited patience and contagious enthusiasm!

  • Addy Hockman

    Strings, Piano, and Ukulele

    Addy Hockman is a Virginia Beach native violinist, pianist, and educator. She studied Music Education with a focus in Violin Performance at Old Dominion University. During her time at ODU, she served as Concertmaster of the ODU Symphony and was a member of the Russell Stanger Scholarship String Quartet.

    Her professional background includes 10 years of experience as a private instructor of Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano, and Ukulele. In addition to private lessons, she has served as the Music Specialist for a Montessori school, and lead masterclasses at several VBCPS String Programs. Beyond the classroom, Addy is an active performer and arranger for La Primavera Strings, specializing in weddings, corporate events, and other gigs along the East Coast. Her performance credits include notable productions such as The Viscount's Ball, Bridgerton in the Park (17th Street Stage), and The Hip Hop Orchestra. Additionally, she has toured nationally as a violinist with Evil Woman: The American ELO.

    By drawing on her diverse background as both a performer and educator, Addy meets every student exactly where they are. She is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where technical skill and creative joy grow together, helping each student reach their musical dreams one step at a time.

  • Cara McKinney

    Voice and Piano

    Cara, praised for her ability to adapt to various musical styles, is an award-winning and experienced performer. Her credentials and affiliations include a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance from Lamar University and leading roles at Virginia Musical Theatre, Lamar Opera Theatre, Opera Breve, Hurrah Players, Governor's School for the Arts, and Virginia Opera. Her vocal talents have been featured in television commercials and museum showcases.

    Taught by some of the best artists and teachers across the country, she has gained extensive knowledge and experience in performing and vocal pedagogy, allowing her to become versed in numerous styles and genres including classical/opera, musical theatre, pop, jazz, R&B, rock, and country.

    Cara has fallen in love with teaching and coaching musicians from all over the world. Her goal is to demystify vocal technique for musicians and help them find their voice in a relaxed, motivated, positive, and supportive atmosphere.  She encourages students to improve their knowledge and experience with breath control and support, projection and resonance, phrasing, range, intonation, tone quality, comfort, lyrical expression, stage performance, presentation skills, vocal anatomy and pedagogy, and more aspects of various singing styles in a safe, energetic, and friendly environment.

  • Conner Pittman

    Guitar, Bass, Ukulele

    Conner has been playing guitar, bass, and singing professionally solo and in various groups across the 757 for over 10 years.

    He consistently hosts multiple Open Mic Nights and a unique Live Music Bingo show every month at different venues, including right here at Dreamer's Academy of Music!

    Conner has years of experience as a student of the Mark Denison Blue Moon Jazz Ensemble and the Warren Choir Ensemble at Tidewater Norfolk Campus, as well as Choir Ensemble and Classical Guitar training from Old Dominion University.

    Conner has a passion for seeing that spark in his students' eyes when something clicks and when they persevere and overcome musical challenges, which help prepare them for all areas of life in adulthood.
